Description: The People of the State of California charged Marquis Deonta Greenwood, age 21, with the felony murder of Tiekarian Troutman, age 18, on December 27, 2010. Troutman was shot to death during the robbery of a store in Alkali Flat, California. One of the owners of the Deluxe Grocery Store at 13th and E Streets pursued the robbers out of the store and threw a bottle at them. Greenwood shot at the owner and killed Troutman.

A citizen is guilty of felony murder if anyone dies during the commission of a felony.

Outcome: The jury found Greewood guilty and found true the special-circumstances allegation that Greewood killed Troutman during the course of a robber. As a result, Greenwood will likely be sentenced to life without parole.
