Description: El Reno, Oklahoma civil litigation lawyer represented Plaintiff, who sued Defendants on an unjust enrichment theory for improvements he made to land that belonged to his uncle that he farmed. He claimed that it was his agreement with his uncle that he would be allowed to buy the land. However, after the death of his uncle in 1998, title to the land was transferred to The Norma Hrdy Trust. Plaintiff then entered into a lease with the Trust and continued to farm the land until 2018 when it became clear that he was not going to be given the opportunity to buy the land. His Aunt Norma died in 2015 and his cousin Lee Ann Parker became the Trustee of the Trust. Plaintiff claimed that he was wrongfully not compensated for the improvements made by him to the land and that Defendants refused to sell the land to him.
Plaintiff sought judgment in his favor in the amount of $10,000, plus attorney fees and costs.
Outcome: Defendant filed a motion for summary judgment, which was granted.
