Description: Meisha Hall sued Independent School District No. 2 of Tulsa County claiming:
1. Plaintiff Cardell Hall is the natural father and co-guardian of Alex Christopher Hall, an incapacitated adult, and is a resident of Tulsa County, Oklahoma.
2. Plaintiff Meisha Hall is the natural mother and co-guardian of Alex Christopher Hall, an incapacitated adult, and is a resident of Tulsa County, Oklahoma.

4. Defendant is an independent school district located in Tulsa County, Oklahoma. The School District is a body corporate and possesses the usual powers of a corporation for public purposes. In its official name (i) it may sue and be sued, and (ii) it is capable of contracting and being contracted with, and holding real and personal estate. See OKLA. STAT. tit. 70, § 5-105.
5. Plaintiff Alex Christopher Hall is a student with a disability under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (20 U.S.C. § 1400 et seq) (hereinafter referred to as the “IDEA”).
6. Plaintiffs assert that through its actions and inactions, Defendant School District has failed to provide Alex Christopher Hall with a free appropriate public education as required by the IDEA. In connection with this claim, Plaintiff Meisha Hall filed a request for an administrative due process hearing on behalf of Alex Christopher Hall against the School District, which is designated State Department of Education Due Process Hearing 2036 (“DPH 2036”).
7. On September 10, 2012, the parties entered into a Settlement Agreement. Because the parties Settlement Agreement includes a general and broad release of claims for Alex Christopher Hall executed by his guardians, the parties seek judicial approval of the Settlement Agreement.
WHEREFORE, premises considered, Plaintiffs Meisha Hall and Cardell Hall, individually, and as guardians and next Mends of Alex Christopher Hall, an incapacitated adult, seek the court’s approval of the Settlement Agreement entered into with the Defendant School District on September 10, 2012.
Outcome: Settlement in the amount of $37,000 approved by the Court.
