Description: Bridge Spoon, an individual; C.S., a minor child by and through parent and next friend Bridget Spoon sued Stillwater Domestic Violence Services, an Oklahoma Corporation; Jane Doe #1, et al. claiming that when she sought protection from her abusive husband she and her children suffered serious, painful and permanent injuries one of her children was dragged through Defendant's shelter by the arm. She claimed that her child's head struck the floor on several occasions during the process. Plaintiff made claims based on assault and battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligent hiring, supervision, training and retention. Plaintiff also sought punitive damages.
Defendant admitted that Plaintiff and her children were residents in its shelter but denied all other allegations.
Outcome: Settled for $3,739.19 without any admission of fault on the part of Defendants.
