Description: H.B. Krug, Kathryn Krug and Bobbie Ruth Eubanks sued Helmerich & Payne on breach of contract. fraud, and other theories claiming that they were wrongfully not compensated by defendants for natural gas produced from properties they owned that were leased to defendants for oil and gas exploration and production purposes. The claimed that H&P shut in gas wells during a contract dispute with ANR Pipeline Corporation. H&P made a claim against ANR, which was settled but did not share any part of that settlement with them. The gas was drained once the dispute was settled. Plaintiffs claimed $160 million in damages.

The defenses asserted by Helmerich & Payne are not available.

Outcome: Plaintiffs' verdict for $7.6 million on the gas drainage claim and $61 millin in damages owed from the ANR settlement proceeds. No punitive damages were awarded.
