Beasley Court: District Court, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma Plaintiff's Attorney: Assistant District Attorney Mark Collier and Dana Bogie Defendant's Attorney: Assistant Public Defender Ron Wallace Description: First-degree murder and shooting with intent to kill. Defendant was charged with the slaying of Derrick Lamont Dishmon, age 23, who was killed on September 30, 1998. Prosecutors asserted that Dumar shot Dishmon in the back several times. Dumas claimed that Dishmon had injured him in a fight and feared that Dishmon would return and harm him further. Both Dishmon and Dumas had been drinking. The shooting with intent to kill was based upon the wounding of Darrell Marcus Taylor which occurred when the attempted to break up the fight. Outcome: Not guilty on the first-degree murder charge but guilty of first-degree manslaughter and sentenced to 15 years in prison and not guilty on the shooting with intent to kill but guilty of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
