Case Style: State of Oklahoma v. Vance Dillon Wright

Case Number: CF-2012-536

Judge: J. Dewayne Steidley

Court: District Court, Rogers County, Oklahoma

Plaintiff's Attorney: Larry Edwards

Defendant's Attorney: Craig Hoehns

Description: Claremore, Rogers County, OK - The State of Oklahoma charged Vance Dillon Wright with the first-degree murder of Kelsey Jean Bray, age 27, whose body was discovered on the right-of-way of Interstate 44 on October 27, 2011. Because of the state of decomposition of the body, the Medical Examiner was not able to determine the cause of death. There was evidence that the woman fell or was thrown from a bridge over the highway. There was evidence, however, that Bray's hyoid bone was broken which indicated that she was strangled before she died.

The State produced evidence that Wright agreed to pay an escort service $600 for Bray's company and that she was a passenger in Wright's white Dodge pick-up on October 9, 2011 at 4:30 a.m.

Outcome: Defendant was found guilty of first-degree murder with a recommendation that he be sentenced to life with the possibility of parole.
