Description: ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Mark Anthony Miller, 48, of Albuquerque, N.M., was sentenced this morning in federal court to 120 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release for his methamphetamine trafficking conviction.
Miller was arrested on Feb. 24, 2013, at the Amtrak train station in Albuquerque after a consensual search by DEA agents revealed that Miller had concealed bundles containing approximately .95 kilograms of methamphetamine in a backpack. Miller subsequently was indicted on March 5, 2013, and charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.
Miller entered a guilty plea to the indictment on May 19, 2014. The guilty plea was entered without the benefit of a plea agreement.
This case was investigated by the Interdiction Unit of the DEA’s Albuquerque office, which focuses on disrupting the flow of narcotics, weapons, and the proceeds of illegal activities as they are smuggled into or through New Mexico in passenger buses, passenger trains, commercial vehicles and automobiles.
