Description: Elijah Turley sued ISG Lackawanna, Inc., Gerald C. Marchand, Larry D. Sampsell, Thomas Jaworski, ISG Lackawanna, LLC, , MitMittal Steel USA Inc., Mittal Steel USA Lackawanna Inc., Arcelor Mittal Lackawanna, LLC and Mittal Steel USA, Inc. on an employment discrimination theory claiming that he ws discriminated against at a western New York steel plant because of his race with racial taunts and insults from the co-workers. He claimed that "KKK" and "King Kong" graffiti were written on the walls of the plant and a stuffed monkey with anoose around its neck was found hanging from his driver's side mirror.

Defendants admitted during the trial, according to news reports, that the Plaintiff's allegations were essentially correct but claimed that it took steps ro stop it, including hiring a private investigator, installed security camers and suspended the employees involved in the discriminatory behavior.

Outcome: Plaintiff's verdict for $25 million.
