Bennett Sprecher and Louise Forlenza v. Marc Thibodeau

Case Number: 158846/2014

Judge: Erick M. Edwards

Court: Supreme Court, New York County, New York

Plaintiff's Attorney: Ron Russo

Defendant's Attorney: Andrew Miltenberg

Description: New York, NY - Big Lawsuit Results in Little Verdict

Bennett Sprecher and Louise Forlenza sued Marc Thibodeau on breach of contract, tortious interference and defamation theories claiming that Thibodeau interfered in the production of Rebecca an ill-fated Broadway musical that never came to be. The Plaintiff's sought $10 million in damages.

The Plaintiff claimed that Defendant sent e-mail messages to possible investors bad mouthing the musical and the progress that was being made to produce and stage it. A e-mail to one investor sent under a pseudonym to a potential investor regarding published reports about fraud involving other investors caused that investor to back out of investing in the play.

The Plaintiffs claimed that Thibodeau was the sender of the hurtful message.

Thibodeau denied wrongdoing.

Outcome: Plaintiffs' verdict for $85,000 on Plaintiffs' tortious interference claim and $5,000 on their breach of contract claims.
