Cyran of Rosenstein, Fist & Ringold, Tulsa, Oklahoma for Independent School District No. 5, Tulsa County, Oklahoma Description: Civil Rights - 42 U.S.C. 1983 - Plaintiff claimed that defendants used excessive force when they shot and killed Andrew James Ridgeway, age 17, on August 14, 1999. Mr. Ridgeway was a passenger in a pickup that had been chased at high speed by the Jenks Police Department. The chased ended at 181st Street and Harvard Avenue in far south Tulsa County after Officers Tim McDaniel and Tracy Powell were involved in a head-on collision with the truck. McDaniel claimed that the driver of the truck, 18-year-old Dusty Ray Cagle, accelerated toward him. Both officers fired at the truck, killing Ridgeway and Cagle. Outcome: Settled for an undisclosed sum.
