Case Number:

Judge: William M. Conley

Court: United States District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin (Dane County)

Plaintiff's Attorney: Rita M. Rumbelow and Laura Przybylinski Finn

Defendant's Attorney: Not Available

Description: Madison, WI - Fitchburg Man Sentenced to 10 Years for Armed Robbery

Raequon Allen, 21, Fitchburg, Wis., was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for committing an armed robbery of a Madison business in January 2015, and for brandishing a firearm during the robbery. Allen pleaded guilty to these charges on April 26, 2016.

Allen received a three-year sentence for the armed robbery, and a mandatory seven-year sentence for brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence. Federal law requires that the sentence for the brandishing a firearm be served consecutively to any other sentence imposed.

Allen admitted that he committed the following robberies:

January 29, 2015 – Mobile Gas Station, Junction Road, Madison;
January 30, 2015 - Stop-N-Go Gas Station, Schroeder Road, Madison; and
January 30, 2015 – PDQ Gas Station, Century Avenue, Middleton, Wis.

Allen brandished a firearm during the robberies of the Mobile Gas Station and Stop-N-Go Gas Station. Allen was arrested on February 12, 2015 on a probation violation warrant and warrants related to three Dane County Circuit Court cases. He was indicted on the federal charges in May 2015.

In sentencing Allen, Judge Conley observed that the armed robberies Allen committed were particularly serious, and that without his arrest, Allen would have continued to terrorize people. Judge Conley also took into consideration Allen’s youth and hoped that while Allen was serving his sentence, he would take advantage of drug treatment and educational opportunities.

The charges against Allen were the result of an investigation by the Madison, Middleton, and Fitchburg Police Departments, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Outcome: Defendant was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison.
