Description: Tulsa, OK - Man Convicted of First-Degree Manslaughter and Causing Great Bodily Injury

The State of Oklahoma charged Jack Leory O'Donnell, III, age 24, with first-degree manslaughter and causing great bodily injury while under the influence of drugs as a result of causing an accident that on May 23, 2014 on Highway 169 south of Owasso, Oklahoma that killed 8-year-old Katelyn Chambers and injuring 5-year-old West Chambers and their father Bradley Chambers. The Chambers vehicle was nearly stopped when the Ford F-250 being driven by O'Donnell hit the back of their Honda Accord at a high rate of speed.

Outcome: Defendant was found guilty with a recommendation that he be sentenced to 14 years in prison on the manslaughter charge and two years on the great bodily injury charge. The jury also recommended that he be fined $10,000 and $5,000 respectively on the charged. First-degree manslaughter is an 85% crime in Oklahoma with the result that he will have to serve more than 8 years in prison.
