Description: Des Moines, IA - Former Iowa State Staffer Sues For Wrongful Termination
Kirsten Anderson, age 39, sued the State of Iowa on sexual harassment and retaliatory discharge for being fired for complaining of about being sexually harassed.
Anderson was the communications directory for the Republican caucus. She was fired just hours after complaining in May 2013 after turning in a memo detailing concerns about lewd comments and harassment in her workplace.
Plaintiff claimed that her supervisors and elected Republican leaders ignored her complaints and retaliated against her when she spoke up.
The defendants denied wrongdoing and said that Plaintiff was fired because of her failure to improve her writing skills. They also said that she continued to relate to Jim Friedrich, despite complaining about his behavior.
