Defendant's Attorney:

Description: Sabrina Smith, individually and on behalf of Daniel Smith, sued All Children's Hospital on a medical negligence theory claiming that the care that he received at the hospital in August 2000 caused him to suffer permanent brain damage. The injury that he sustained will prevent him from ever graduating for high school or being self sufficient. Daniel was taken to the Hospital's Emergency Room for treatment after being sick for several days and became dehydrated from vomiting and diarrhea. After being at the hospital for 4.5 hours, she was told to take Daniel home because he was fine. The next morning he could barely breath and was rushed back to the hospital where it was determined that he had sustained brain damage.

Defendant denied wrongdoing.

Outcome: Plaintiff's verdict for $11.1 million.
