Description: Los Angeles, CA - Thirty-two Former San Bernardino County Jail Inmates Settle Civil Rights Claims for $2.75 Million.
Numerous former San Bernardino county jail inmates at the West Valley Detentional Center in Rancho Cucamonga sued the county on civil rights violation theories under 42 U.S.C. 1983 claiming that they were injured and harmed as a direct result of a pattern of physical abuse by deputies. They claimed that they were Taser gun torture and brutal pat-down searches.
A number of sheriff's deputies were fired as a result of investigation into the operation of the facility.
Outcome: Settled for $2.75 million.
