Description: Alexandria, LA - Jury Convicts Police Office On Manslaughter Charge

The State of Louisiana charged Derrick Stafford with manslaughter and attempted manslaughter for his role in the shooting death of Jeremy Mardis, who killed when the Stafford shot at and wounded Christopher Few at the end of a car chase.

Stafford claimed that the shot at the car because he feared that Few was a threat to another officer if he tried to back up.

Both officers were charged with second-degree murder.

Stafford testified that he did not know the boy was in the car.
