Called one of "the nation's top litigators" by The National Law Journal and "the top product liability attorney in the United States" by Japan's Nikkei newspapers, Ted Grossman is Head of Litigation in the Cleveland Office. He has tried cases and argued appeals in celebrated matters throughout the country and has an unbroken record of victories spanning decades.
Ted's practice is varied, covering a broad scope of complex or threatening civil litigation and international arbitration. Representative clients from throughout the United States and the world have included financial institutions; manufacturers of consumer goods, pharmaceuticals, and biologicals; retailers; and many others. For commercial plaintiffs, he has obtained recoveries of hundreds of millions of dollars and recently obtained a highly watched preliminary injunction for Macy's against Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia. For many years, he served as R.J. Reynolds' lead outside counsel, helping to guide it through successive waves of mass individual and novel aggregated litigation. He successfully defended the largest class action in United States history. In regulatory and constitutional litigation, Ted has served as lead counsel in cases brought by or against virtually every federal department. He regularly advises boards, CEOs, and general counsel of leading clients.
Ted is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the American Law Institute. He was profiled in the National Law Review's "Winning" supplement (as a "shutout" pitcher turned to for difficult cases) and in its "Defense Verdicts of the Year." He has appeared on the CBS Evening News, ABC World News, many other media, and was recently profiled in Crain's Cleveland Business ("King of the Court").
