Stan was born and raised in Vermillion, South Dakota. Stan graduated from Vermillion High School in 1966 and thereafter attended Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. Stan graduated from Iowa State University in 1971 with a Bachelor of Arts in Distributive Studies, with emphasis in History, Economics and Political Science. Stan thereafter attended the Arizona State University School of Law and obtained his Juris Doctorate in 1974. From 1971 to 1976, Stanley was in the National Guard in Iowa and Arizona and had obtained the rank of Second Lieutenant at the time of his retirement from the National Guard in 1976. From 1974 to 1978, Stan was employed by the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office as a Deputy County Attorney. In 1978, Stan returned to Sioux City, Iowa and joined the law firm of Kindig, Beebe, Rawlings, Nieland and Killinger, where he was a Partner in the firm until 1988. In 1988, Stan left the firm and started his own firm, Munger Law Firm, which was located on the same floor as our present location in the Terra Centre. Stan enjoys spending time with his wife, Mary, and his three adult children, Elizabeth, Mark and Katherine. Stan also enjoys canoeing, fly fishing, flying his airplane, riding his motorcycle, and the outdoors. Stan is one of several of his family members to practice law. Stan’s grandfather, Robert H. Munger, was a District Court Judge in Woodbury County, Iowa. Stan’s uncle, Robert Munger, who is now deceased, practiced law in Sioux City, Iowa. Stan’s brother, George Munger, is an attorney in Bellingham, Washington. Stan’s cousin, Clark Munger, is a District Court Judge in Tuscon, Arizona and his other cousin, John Munger, has a law firm in Tuscon, Arizona.
