Robin Waters graduated, summa cum laude, from Northern Illinois University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science. While at Northern Illinois, Ms. Waters received a Federal Foreign Language and Area Studies Scholarship for the study of Indonesian language. She also received the Dean�s Award, and NIU�s Outstanding Women Student Award, presented annually by the Presidential Commission on the Status of Women. Ms. Waters then attended Loyola University Chicago School of Law, and received her Juris Doctor degree in 2014. At Loyola, Ms. Waters was selected to participate in Loyola�s Life After Innocence Clinic, where she provided pro bono legal representation to exonerees. She also participated in the London Comparative Advocacy Program, in London, England. Ms. Waters served as an Executive Board Member of Loyola�s National Lawyers Guild Chapter, and was a founding member of Loyola�s Environmental Law Society. She also received CALI awards in Criminal Procedure Adjudication, Professional Responsibility, and Trial Practice. During law school, Ms. Waters served as a clerk at a civil rights law firm specializing in police misconduct, where she assisted in the representation of individuals in � 1983 civil rights litigation. She also served as an extern at the Federal Defender Program in the Northern District of Illinois, where she assisted in the representation of indigent defendants in federal criminal cases, including briefing an appeal to the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Ms. Waters joined Durkin & Roberts in October of 2014. While at Durkin & Roberts, Ms. Waters has represented individuals in complex, high-profile criminal cases in both the state and federal courts, including the defense of individuals charged with white collar fraud offenses, public corruption, drug trafficking, sex crimes, and murder-for-hire. Ms. Waters has also gained experience in the defense of domestic terrorism related offenses as part of the firm�s pro bono efforts to provide high quality representation to unpopular defendants in national security cases. In this capacity, Ms. Waters has litigated complex surveillance issues, including under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (�FISA�). In addition, she has also participated in the representation of a Guantanamo Bay detainee in habeas and Periodic Review Board proceedings. Ms. Waters is a member of the Illinois Bar, and the General Bars of the United States District Courts for the Northern District of Illinois, Northern District of Indiana, and the Northern District of Ohio.
