Mr. Quane was born in American Falls, Idaho. He played professional baseball before he entered law school. After graduating from law school, Mr. Quane developed a litigation practice in Boise, Idaho. In 1970, Mr. Quane founded the law firm of Quane, Smith, Howard and Hull, which grew to have offices throughout Idaho and other Western States. Mr. Quane is the senior partner of Quane Smith LLP, and maintains an active litigation practice. Mr. Quane's practice focuses on litigation involving physicians and other health care providers. His litigation practice also has included all lines of professional liability, insurance, product liability, aviation and transportation, personal injury, contracts, accounting and general litigation and appeals. Mr. Quane's practice has been in both state and federal courts, and includes experience with many forms of alternative dispute resolution, including arbitration and mediation. He has handled appeals before the Idaho state appellate courts and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. In addition to his own litigation practice, Mr. Quane directs and supervises complex litigation handled by Quane Smith LLP, throughout the State of Idaho and other Western states. Mr. Quane provides risk management counseling and advice to physicians and other health care providers. Mr. Quane has spoken at local, state and national meetings on legal issues impacting health care providers. Mr. Quane is a member of the Idaho bar, and has practiced in courts in Oregon, Montana and Washington. Mr. Quane is a fellow of the International Society of Barristers, and he is a member of the Federation of Insurance and Corporate Counsel, the Defense Research Institute, the American Judicature Society, the American Bar Association, the Boise Bar Association, and the Lawyer-Pilots Bar Association. He practices in the Boise office.
