Additional Information:

James E. Neuman, a graduate of the Georgetown University Law Center and former law clerk to a New York State appellate judge, has been in private practice since 1992.

Initially, Mr. Neuman's practice was devoted to criminal and civil appeals. As he gained a reputation for scholarly, insightful analysis – informed by his years as an appellate law clerk – Mr. Neuman was increasingly asked by trial counsel to assist them with trial motions and strategies. His practice ultimately evolved to include all stages of criminal defense, including trials, sentencing proceedings, post-verdict and post-conviction motions and appellate litigation, before both federal and state courts.

Mr. Neuman is a member of the Bars of the State of New York, several federal district courts and circuit courts of appeal, as well as the United States Supreme Court.

He is a member of numerous professional bar organizations and is dedicated to public service. For many years, he served as a member of the Practitioner's Advisor Group to the United States Sentencing Commission. He is currently a member of the Central Screening Group for the Assigned Counsel Plan of the Appellate Division, First Department of New York State, which oversees attorneys who are appointed to represent indigent criminal defendants in New York County and Bronx County.

In addition, he is currently the Criminal Justice Act Representative for the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
