Dr Scott Sindelar began his clinical training working with the difficult and complex population of street drug addicts. Being successful with these individuals required developing counseling expertise in multiple areas including psychological assessment, stress, couples/marital, fear/anxiety, depression, anger, sexuality, and work/life balance. He also became interested in the effects of drugs and stress on the brain. He trained under the fathers of neuropsychology, Drs Ralph Reitan and Elbert Russell.

He moved to Arizona with his wife in 1981and taught psychology at ASU while setting up his private practice. Because of his areas of expertise, he also has a forensic consulting practice, conducting criminal competency evaluations, substance abuse and neuropsychological evaluations and is an expert witness.
